Changxi Zheng develops computational technologies used for virtual reality, digital fabrication, and mechanical engineering. He has worked on the simulation methods that automatically generate realistic, complex motions, as well as the methods that compute virtual sounds synchronized with simulated motions. These computational models help to create realistic and immersive virtual environments that are both visible and audible for training, design, entertainment, and other applications. Leveraging the computational methods, his research also develops new acoustic and optical devices for imaging, display, and human-computer interactions.

Research Interests

Computational design and fabrication, Physics-based simulation, computational acoustics, computer graphics.

Research Areas

Zheng received a BS in computer science from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2005 and a PhD in computer science from Cornell University, in 2012. Zheng serves as the associated editor of ACM Transactions on Graphics, has won a NSF CAREER Award, and was named one of Forbes’ “30 under 30” in science and healthcare in 2013.
