Research Interests

DATA SCIENCE EDUCATION, ECONOMICS OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Yi Zhang joins the IEOR department as an Associate in Discipline in 2018. He teaches courses in the data science field, including simulation, foundations of data science, and business analytics. Prior to joining Columbia University, he worked as a part-time instructor at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught Econometrics and Advanced Business Analytics. Zhang’s is passionate about incorporating digital technology into the teaching environment to facilitate active learning.
 
Zhang received a BS in information systems from Dalian University of Technology in 2009 and in the progress of finishing his Ph.D. degree in Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on the impact of digital platform adoption on economics.
