"Extratropical Cyclones and Weather Extremes"

Extratropical (or mid-latitude) cyclones generate most of the high-impact weather in the mid-latitudes. In this talk, I will discuss how the variations in extratropical cyclone activity modulate weather extremes, and how the projected changes in these cyclones may impact the occurrence of these extremes. In addition, the projected change in extreme cyclones in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres will be compared and contrasted.
