Growing up around Sydney, Scotland, and London, Campbell Donnelly graduated as an Oppidan Scholar from Eton College in Windsor, UK. While excelling in STEM, coming in the top 0.25% in National Math Challenges, he is enthralled by art and psychology. He was the student in charge of hosting Royal Academician artists for the Verey Gallery and running the Art Society. He founded Eton’s Psychological Society and organised several talks from occupational experts and TED speakers.

Campbell’s experiences and fortunate upbringing have inspired his determination to create more opportunity for others through engineering. Locally, he held lead volunteer roles in Eton’s Community Service, its Charity Body and its new Children’s University Program. He also volunteered each week at a retirement day centre, local primary schools, and in a scheme tutoring math to underprivileged junior and senior students. In the summer of 2013, he assisted Shared Value Africa for one month in Lusaka, advancing their inaugural ‘Trees on Farms’ and ‘Solar Initiative’ projects to accelerate Zambian farmers’ socio-economic development. Furthermore, he pioneered their new cookstove project which, teemed with SVA’s pico-solar products, help tackle the pneumonia-onsetting indoor air pollution responsible for the annual death of hundreds of thousands of African children. He continued volunteering for SVA from the UK for one year.

With plans to major in Earth and Environmental Engineering, Campbell aspires to mitigate future deprivation and environmental damage by helping to solve the global energy crisis. This motivated him to work at Mainstream Renewable Power, in Cape Town in the summer of 2014, exploring the underlying technology and engineering principles behind its large-scale wind and solar power schemes. In addition, it drove him to increase awareness on “The Potential of Renewables”, through his presentation that won Eton’s Environment Prize. Always active, Campbell adores creating art, is an avid soccer and tennis player, and enjoys snowboarding when he gets the chance.
