Professor Lin Zhou, Nanjing University
"Energy photonics: Exploring plasmonic nanostructures for solar energy conversion and storage devices"
Abstract: Plasmonics has generated tremendous excitement because of its unique capability of subwavelength focusing and giant local field enhancement, beneficial for various applications such as light harvesting, photodetection, biosensing, catalysis, etc. In the talk, I will report our recent processes on combining the nanophotonic designs with advanced energy conversion and/or storage devices: 1) highly efficient and broadband plasmonic microstructures for interfacial solar water purification; 2) nanophotonic designs for selective solar absorber for solar thermal conversion devices; 3) dynamic control of plasmonic nanostructures as in operando monitoring for lithium batteries. These investigations may inspire new insights for plasmonic nanostructures and energy-related applications.
