Columbia Engineering for Humanity Fund

For more than 150 years, Columbia Engineering has been transcending disciplines, educating leaders, and transforming lives with inventions such as FM radio, the Pupin coil, and mass production of penicillin have led groundbreaking projects, including New York’s first subway and the world’s first nuclear submarine.

Today, Columbia Engineering continues to put engineering in the service of humanity as we implement a strategic vision focused on key areas where we can make the biggest impact:  in sustainability, health, security, connectivity, and creativity.

We call this vision Columbia Engineering for Humanity and it highlights the incredible frontier research, innovative solutions, and real-world impact being achieved by our faculty, students, and alumni around the world.

Support the Columbia Engineering for Humanity Fund

There are many ways for you to support research, education, and innovation at Columbia Engineering with gifts of any size:

To Support Students During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Dean's Student Relief Fund

The Dean’s Student Relief Fund supports students with emergency travel, technology needs, health needs, and other expenses. These funds are provided on an as-needed basis to students, in addition to initial emergency grants provided to each student by the University, as well as prorated housing and dining refunds. Supporting our students is a top priority for Dean Mary Boyce.

To Support Our Research Programs: Engineering Annual FundParents Fund

Gifts to the Engineering and Parents Fund provide current-use unrestricted support for the School’s most urgent priorities. Your support helps us direct funds where they are currently needed most and are essential to our continuing mission and vision for the School.

To Support Education: Undergraduate Scholarships | Graduate Fellowships

For Columbia Engineering to be a leader in research and a leader in mentoring the next generation of leaders, path-breaking researchers, and innovators, it is critical to attract top talent from across the nation and across the globe. Recruiting the world’s best students and then providing them with the very best resources and facilities prepares them to address the grand challenges of our time.

To Support Student Programs: Internships | Student Life

Internship support provides financial assistance to students who are pursuing unpaid or low-paying summer internships. Without the internship fund, many students would not be able to fund experiences critical to preparing for careers in today’s rapidly changing market. Gifts to Student Life enhance the daily experience and well-being of engineering students with projects that improve student spaces and research spaces, encourage career development, and promote student group activities.

To Support Innovation: Entrepreneurship

Columbia Engineering has a robust entrepreneurship program involving students, faculty, as well as recent alumni. The Entrepreneurship Fund supports our various initiatives such as the Columbia Startup Lab, our unique work/life residence ResInc., and competitions such as Fast Pitch, and the Columbia Venture Competition.

To Support Faculty: Faculty Support

Columbia Engineering faculty, together with their students and postdoctoral fellows and collaborators, have a long history of important research, groundbreaking discoveries, and excellence in teaching. Our faculty are also engaged in large scale, multi-investigator projects in breakthrough areas at the interface of disciplines that involve collaborations spanning different fields.
