Lakshmi Bodapati

During her first-year, Lakshmi did research in Dr. Gordana Novakovic's Biomedical Engineering Lab working on Left Ventricular Assist Device induced myocardial recovery. Over that winter break, she worked at Navy Federal Credit Union in Delivery Channels focusing on bridging the gap between technical products and business requirements. After seeing first-hand the benefits and culture of a credit union, she joined the Lion Credit Union Initiative (LCUI) in the spring. LCUI is a student initiative working to start a credit union for Columbia University. Lakshmi has served as the Chief Operating Officer since spring 2016 for the initiative which has partnered with a parent credit union and plans to open in 2017.

The summer after her first-year, Lakshmi went back to Fairfax, interning at The Boeing Company as a Software Engineering intern. At Boeing she worked on Signals Intelligence Systems using Python and C++ all summer. Last fall, Lakshmi worked in Columbia's Laboratory for Intelligent Imaging and Neural Computing under Dr. Paul Sajda. The summer after her sophomore year, she went back to Virginia to intern at Amazon in EC2 Networking working with Java, Ruby and the AWS products.
