At Columbia, Chang is studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Economics. His interests lie in chemical/biochemical applications to real-life problems, looking to work in biotech/healthcare industry. During his first year, he worked with Professor Ponisseril Somasundaran, studying the electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide into smaller fuels. The research team focused on investigating possible robust, green catalysts and has co-authored a publication on the catalytic activity of copper-polymer complexes.

In industry, Chang worked at &Beyond Co., a startup consulting group, working with the F&B consulting team over the summer. While engaging in the direct operations of several brands with different identities, he was able to get a better grasp of the startup world, which he hopes to one day apply to his own biotech startup field.

Academics aside, Chang has enjoyed swimming, having competed at the English National Schools Competition at the varsity level. At Columbia, he is a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and is the VP of Financials for the Columbia University Consulting Club. He enjoys music and has been able to continue his interests as part of Asadal, a long-standing Columbia band.
