Arvind Chava

At Columbia, Arvind became interested in economics and finance. He delved into studying how the stock market works and researched the investing methodologies used by legendary investors. Arvind then jumpstarted his investment portfolio. Despite the unstable market for much of 2018 due to global tensions, Arvind's portfolio gained respectable returns. Arvind hopes to do research in financial economics in the field of portfolio management and asset allocation.

Arvind Chava

In high school, Arvind did research on applying machine learning techniques to analyze language semantics at Stanford University. It was this project that developed Arvind’s interest in applied mathematics and machine learning. During the summer prior to senior year in high school, Arvind applied computer modeling and natural language processing algorithms to model language acquisition at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Professors Mitch Marcus and Charles Yang.

As a freshman in high school, Arvind founded STEMWISE, an organization with the mission to provide quality education to underprivileged students. As president of STEMWISE, Arvind expanded STEMWISE to teach over 400 students in community centers and developed academic video lectures that students in over 100 countries are using for academic enrichment.

Outside of school, Arvind likes to read, exercise, and play cricket. His favorite topic to read and discuss is philosophy.
