Andrew Lee

Andrew Lee is a graduate from Palo Alto High School in California. At Columbia Engineering, he intends to explore Computer Science or Financial Engineering with a focus on artificial intelligence.

Growing up in the Silicon Valley, Andrew has been immersed in technological advancement and entrepreneurship. This past summer, Andrew interned at a startup, Hemlane, which is pioneering an end- to-end online property management platform. In the summer of his junior year in high school, Andrew interned at the Stanford Laboratory of Imaging Informatics and worked on a computer vision project to detect and segment tumors in MRI scans. He was named a semifinalist in the Siemens Competition for this work. In the summer of his sophomore year, he conducted research on optical laser cavities for use in improving phase-contrast electron microscopy at the University of California Berkeley Physics Department.

Outside of scientific research, Andrew enjoys programming and mathematical modeling. He and his team were designated Outstanding Winners the 17th High School Math Competition in Modeling. Subsequently, he and his team represented the United States and were designated Outstanding Winners in the International Math Model Challenge for two consecutive years. Andrew was the president of the Science Bowl club at his school and as well as the coach for two middle school Science Bowl teams.

In his spare time, Andrew likes to get food with friends, play badminton, and browse Reddit.
