Title: "Quo vadis UQ?"

Abstract: With apologies to Henryk Sienkiewicz, we ask “where are you going, UQ?” Uncertainty quantification, as a subject of interest to mathematicians, scientists, and engineers, has certainly enjoyed explosive growth in recent years. Certainly, folks with all sorts of backgrounds have jumped onto the UQ bandwagon, the speaker included. Before addressing the question in the title, we ask quo eras UQ? ("where have you been, UQ") and quo es UQ? ("where are you now, UQ?") We restrict our attention to UQ defined as determining information about uncertainties in outputs of a PDE, given information about uncertainties in its inputs. We also touch upon the inverse process which reverses the roles of inputs and outputs. One theme in the presentation is UQ for UQ, e.g., how does one deal with the fact that there is often uncertainty about the nature of the uncertain data.
