The Changing Face of Engineering

As Columbia celebrates its 250th anniversary year, Engineering News recognizes the role of women engineers at the School. This, the first of three articles, focuses on women faculty members. The other articles will feature women graduate students and women undergraduate students.

All of the School’s 14 women faculty members were asked the following questions:

  • What is your area of research interest?

  • Why did you choose engineering?

  • What challenges do you see that are unique to women engineers (if any)?

  • What advice would you offer young women who may want to follow in your footsteps?

This web article contains the responses of each faculty member in their entirety.
