Parents Council Formed
The first gatherings of the new SEAS Parents Council were held in October during Family Weekend. The weekend was hosted by Interim Dean Gerald Navratil and Parents Council Chairs, Angela and Mark Arnold, parents of Andrew ’09, shown left to right in the photo above. The Parents Council, a volunteer leadership group composed of parents who have agreed to serve as ambassadors for the School, will act as a liaison between the SEAS administration and the Engineering Parents Association, and will advance the goals and vision of the School through support of the Parents Fund.
In its inaugural year, 26 families have joined the Council. Those families represent parents from each class and hail from eight states and six foreign countries. At its initial meeting, the group set goals for the year and discussed ways for the School to better engage, educate and partner with parents in order to build a more vibrant parent community and stronger relationships with the School. Parents are invited to contact Council members in their area or country if they have feedback or questions that they want to ask another parent.
