Somasundaran Inducted AIChE Fellow

The nation’s premier chemical engineering group has inducted Ponisseril Somasundaran, the LaVon Duddleson Krumb Professor of Mineral Engineering as a Fellow.

Somasundaran was inducted as a Fellow within the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) during the group’s annual meeting Nov. 11 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. More than 4,000 attendees attended this year’s meeting.

Only a minute percentage of AIChE members are inducted as Fellows. Candidates for the AIChE award must have been in the chemical engineering practice for at least 25 years, and must show extraordinary accomplishments in the field. The author of 15 books and 600 scientific publications, Somasundaran is a 1985 inductee of the National Academy of Engineering. He is the honorary editor-in-chief of the international journal Colloids and Surfaces, as well as the editor of the Encyclopedia of Surfactant and Colloid Science.
