The Off-Campus Housing Assistance office (OCHA) provides assistance to Columbia faculty, staff, students, and alumni in their search for rental housing in properties not owned by Columbia in the New York City area. OCHA’s services include an online database of listings of rooms and apartments for lease, sublet or share; a web site for information on how to search OCHA’s listings, tips on finding housing, and links to other resources; in-person advice; use of computers; and other resources, including maps, lists of realtors and temporary housing, and more. OCHA’s services are free of charge. It does not operate as a real estate or rental agency. However, some of its listers may charge a fee. The service does not screen owners, tenants, or roommates, and does not inspect or approve apartments. Listing of accommodations does not constitute a recommendation, nor is the accuracy of the description verified by OCHA.
