Annual Fund Sponsors Lecture

Tony Jebara, associate professor of computer science, spoke recently about his novel research using GPS data at an event sponsored by the Engineering Annual Fund at The New York Academy of Sciences.

"We all generate location information," says Jebara, "and we can use algorithms to generate visualization."

Jebara creates 2D images from 3D images and, using information generated from mobile devices, can create visualizations of "hot spots" where people are congregating.

Taking data from GPS-equipped taxis and other vehicles, cell phones and other devices, Jebara's Citysense can tell you, in real time, where the action is.
